In the March Issue:

The world has gone through some big shifts in the last couple of years, and among the fastest have been the changes in the way you can market your business, especially on social media.
It seems like every other month either a new app or a new feature within the most used apps is released, sending entrepreneurs on a wild goose chase to crack the new algorithm. While it is undeniable that having a social media presence is invaluable for any business, it is not the only way you can build your audience and gain visibility.
Long before Instagram reels or TikTok, there were other types of media that, regardless of what digital marketers may say, are still alive and well.
Podcasts, video interviews, virtual and in-person speaking opportunities, TEDx talks and even TV segments in the local news continue to be great ways to add credibility, clout and share your message with a large audience.
Here's the good news: the same time you may spend testing different hashtags or the best email subject line, can just as easily be used to craft a compelling pitch or application, and land a long-lasting visibility opportunity for you and your business.
Here's the biggest benefit of exploring an alternative to social media when marketing your business: a lot of the content created for social media has a very short expiration date, whereas traditional features can last a long time and be referenced timelessly. If this is not enough to convince you, let me share three very specific reasons why you can most definitely become a sought-after speaker and personality, easier than you may imagine.

1- You're an expert at your message. If you have a business, you have mastered something and can help your audience with what you know. All the mindset work you've already been doing to battle impostor syndrome and accept the fact that there's plenty of room for you in your industry applies here. If a fitness trainer can be on TV, or a life coach can speak on TEDx, so can you, regardless of what your business is.

2- These outlets need material. Ever since I started doing TV segments 3 years ago and became a regular on my local news, I've been surprised at how much content they have to crank out in just one morning. Imagine coming up with 3-minute stories for four hours, five days a week! And how about TEDx events? They literally can't happen without speakers. So, what is keeping you from being one of them? This leads me to my third and final point.
3- Persistence wins. The same persistence you've been applying to your social media content or even in following up with clients, goes a long way in landing speaking and visibility opportunities. Sure, you may not get a response to your first TV pitch or TEDx application; that's when you "go for no" and keep trying different angles, networking and making connections.
